Diesel emmisions claims phone nuisance calls

I keep receiving nuisance calls from "Diesel Emmisions Claims" who know my name, my number and the registration of the car I used to own. I am not interested in claiming as the car was OK and I suffered no loss from having any "cheat box" installed. In fact I probably benefited from it as the vehicle tax group was probably a band lower than it should have been. The government should be making this claim!
Anyway I have been called 24 times over the last month. I asked them to stop calling me. I explained that I was part of the telephone preference service and that should not be calling me. I reported them to the TPS three times. (I was on holiday so filling in the form was harder on just a phone)
Here are the 24 previous numbers they have dialled from

These calls have been happening since 12th September '24. Blocking the number doesn't seem to help as only one number has repeated itself.

Is there any way Martin's team can look into this and find a way to stop the nuisance calls from happening. I am sure there are may others out there who are getting the same calls.

Absolutely nothing the forum can do , those numbers are spoofed or VoIP numbers , throwaways.

Once the phone system is switched from cooper pairs to fibre it becomes a whole lot easier for the supplier to block

If it's to your mobile there are bits of free software that will block known spam numbers from reaching you

Should you answer another one of these calls just say "can you hold while I get the information?" and then go to the supermarket or out for a coffee or whatever.

By doing this you will hopefully find the calls will dry up.

If you know a foreign language, start talking to them in that language

My usual response when I find out it is a scam caller is just to say "Thank you, goodbye" and end the call.

I wouldn’t even say that. Just put the phone down at the side and leave them talking to no one.
  • The trouble is, they seem to call at the most inoportune monents, and you have to put everything down, check to see who is calling; then reject it or waste their time, or block it. Of the last 27 calls only a few have been from the same number, so blocking them on your mobile phone isnt the answer. (They seem to have similar digits at the beginning of the number but the last 4 digits differ.) I've lately had 3 calls from a Wolverhampton number - 01902 943660. These being from the same number, I have blocked this one. It's just the disruption to whatever you are doing, and it takes ten mins or more to fill in the Telephone preference complaints log. I doubt if anything comes of this, but if we don't give them the data, then they have no hope of rectifying it. I haven't heard of them enforcing much though. Sigh.

TPS is basically toothless, so I would stop wasting your time filling in their complaints log.

Unless you are expecting a particularly important call, just let them go to voicemail.

  • I've had another 7 calls from the Diesel emissions claim hotline. Why can they not take a hint! Do they think that I will give up and make a spurious claim with them if they annoy me enough? 31 unwanted calls is really getting into harassment/stalker territory. If the Telephone Preference Service is so useless, then who else is there with any bite to their remit? The calls are coming in from cites around the UK so it is not immediately possible to screen them. I've even tried engaging and reasoning with them that I will never be part of their scam. The caller seemed to accept my point of view. Got another call from another telesales the next day.  Does anybody know where this company is based or their proper name?

There is no regulatory body that can stop these calls. They may not even be from a "genuine" claims company. A few years ago I kept getting calls from an accident claims company. When I phoned the actual company to complain, they said the calls weren't from them but from fake companies using their name.

Don't engage with them. A quick "Foxtrot Oscar" and end the call.

I am continually plagued by calls from various people claiming to be "the Local Energy Advisor for your area" who want to send someone to survey my loft under the pretext of selling me spray foam loft insulation.
