Currys / Carphone Warehouse - phones

I followed MSE's link to a mobile phone I wanted to buy. Carphone Warehouse (now Currys) were a suggested retailer (perhaps because they were 99p cheaper than most).
The phone turned out to be faulty, and I asked for a refund. This was agreed, and I was promsed a refund within 3 to 5 days of return. Now, and despite reminders, 18 days after they received the phone, still no refund. Currys customer service is appalling.
I think MSE should no longer show Carphone Warehouse or Currys as a suggested retailer.

Agreed. The last encounter I had with Currys was buying a "reconditioned" laptop. It failed after 3 weeks, so I phoned their support. I had to send it to them and they replaced the motherboard. It was still faulty. So after 3 returns it finally turned out to be the battery (which they replaced). It seems their tech guys don't really know how to test and diagnose faults. They also sell used/returned goods as new (reconditioned) but seemingly don't test them very well
