Octopus Intelligent Go - how quick?
Comments

From memory it can happen very quickly. When I moved over from Go when the Zappi became compatible, it was a matter of being asked to do a test charge and when that completed successfully the tariff was changed the same day.
If you have a compatible car as well as the Zappi I recommend you use the Zappi rather than the car to control the charging as it is a lot more reliable.1 -

Thanks all, kinda what I was expecting / hoping. Will start the process shortly and see how it goes.0

Not sure if all tariffs, but Octopus seem to “start the tariff before you requested it”…
e.g. if you sign up at 11am today, they might start calculating the entire day at the new tariff’s rates, including the previous 11 hours.PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)1 -
Seems to have all completed successfully. So, answering my original question I’d say it took less than 10 minutes in total, probably less than 5 even.1

Just a quick update and a question. All seemingly went well, car charged overnight etc. IHD is showing a frightening number but doing the maths it’s based on the kWh used x the day rate (26.02p).Question, just noticed the car started to charge again - does that mean that the current rate (30 minute slot) is the cheap 7p rate? Think I read somewhere on the Octopus site it was the case.0

How do I tell who initiated it?
edit: nothing showing in the Octopus App. Car connected to Zappi (obviously!) but Zappi in Eco+ mode and there’s some half decent solar so maybe it’s just the Zappi doing its thing, although the actual charge rate was way above the solar generation. Home battery adds a layer of confusion too I guess.0 -
