My will is in a brown envelope behind the mantel clock, just as everyone else in my family past; my executors will know where it is even if I don't tell them. I guess most people no longer have mantel clocks, either, though.
As for the rest, I'm not worried because I will be dead. I've dealt with my parents affairs, someone else can deal with mine.
@Cairnpapple where do I get a card? I've signed up for body donation too, but I don't have anything to say that outside of my will

these days the default is that you want to be a donor unless you opt out

you can record your wishes here : https://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/register-your-decision/

I'd say that possibly there is some overthinking going on here, in that it's really not necessary - and is probably against the relevant T&Cs - to inform executors, next of kin etc of login ids and passwords.

In my experience all that is needed are the various company names and - ideally - the account numbers.

The only passwords I'd recommend are the ones to get into your phone, e-mail and social media.

I'm donating my whole body to science, not just bits of me

Point taken, but my executors also know who my solicitor is in that case

Yes, I think some people seem to think the executor literally has to use the deceased's logins - that isn't necessary (and arguably shouldn't be done anyway!). The banks etc can be contacted by other means.

Agreed. I did use some of my late husband's log-ins just to check for information but not actually to activate any withdrawals. as that would be illegal.
I did access one site he subscribed to but when I contacted them to ask for a refund, they declined because the site had been accessed since date of death ( by me ). Lesson learned.

Mine came in the info package i got from Edinburgh University when I signed up.  You could always make one and laminate it? It just says BODY DONATION REGISTER in large letters then "For notification of a death contact' and the contact number.

Or you could add the contact number to the ICE information in your phone?

I realised that my dad has removed the hall sideboard that contained his will and POA so I need to check where they have gone! I do have a note of his solicitor and financial adviser so should be fine either way (he's still alive and relatively organised).

Probably worth bearing in mind that the chances of you both going at the same time are very low. At least one of you will probably get the chance to streamline things and have more discussion with executors as time goes on.

Normal life would suggest you are right, @Cairnpapple, however we spend a lot of time exploring in our motorhome - vastly increasing the chances of going together.

There is a Message in a Bottle scheme most councils or LA recommend. It’s primarily intended for use by the Emergency Services. https://www.informationnow.org.uk/article/bottle-in-the-fridge-emergency-information-scheme/

It is simply a sticker by the front door to indicate where information is held - often the fridge. The bottle or box contains important information about medical conditions, medication, NOK contacts etc. I see no reason why the bottle/box couldn’t include a note who the executors are and where to find the information.

I have a quick link on my PC to a folder entitled For Executors.
