  • The impact that FU Money has on peace of mind really can't be overstated can it?

If ever I find work becomes a bit overwhelming and I start to lose sight of the bigger picture, all I need to do is remind myself that being there is totally optional and on my terms only. Never fails to do the trick!

Well done on empowering yourself 💪

What an amazing position to be in.
It really is. I didn't mean to brag, I'd just really never thought about it like that before and it is actually such a nice thing to be able to realise / remind myself of!

Thank you so much! I'm gonna try and keep reminding myself of that. I think it already is working to be honest! I had a challenging meeting today and there are a few projects that are going a bit rogue, and I actually felt quite calm today. Long may it last! If I happen to forget and sound upset about work at some point, somebody please remind me of my realisation 😂❤️

the only kind ... well done
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! It's not even like something drastic has changed at work, there's always been something stressful about it, which has shifted over the years but lately I've just found it harder to cope with and get excited about what I'm doing. I've had some good moments this week though which were challenging but also... intellectually stimulating and enjoyable.
Got my second session tomorrow, will see how that goes. It's mostly guided homework I think because they clearly didn't class whatever anxiety I have as all that serious, but learning those coping skills is probably just what I need.

We've been having a lovely weekend ❤️ I managed to get lots of life admin done, and then we went and watched Paddington in Peru yesterday, which was good fun. Today I went to a Terrarium workshop which I had been gifted for my birthday, and am currently on the bus home with my lovely new terrarium. It turned out really nice, I think 😊
We also want to do a bit of a tidy this afternoon and start getting those Christmas decorations out, I know it's still a bit early but who cares, we're grown ups and get to do that whenever we feel like it 😂

I'll post a finance update shortly as well, ahead of getting paid tomorrow. Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend too 🥰

In the spirit of this board, maybe I should add some updates on the part of this journey that's the 'being mortgage neutral' step as well... i.e. having enough money in our ISAs to pay off the mortgage.

    Current figures:
    Investment ISAs: £69,769.76
    Mortgage: £213,005.57
% of being mortgage neutral: 32.8%
    Total pot: £190,929.73
% of early retirement savings: 20.5%
    Current figures:
    Investment ISAs: £71,836.96
    Mortgage: £213,005.57
% of being mortgage neutral: 33.7%
    Total pot: £196,449.09
% of early retirement savings: 21.1%

A fair bit up for the month without any further contributions.
