Transit expenses compensation

I have a flight, London - Jeddah - Jakarta, which was scheduled to arrive in Jeddah at 23:15, and depart to Jakarta at 01:50.
Now the London - Jeddah flight has been rescheduled to arrive at around 01:38, and have been bumped on to the next flight Jeddah -Jakarta, at 08:35.
It's not clear what accommodation they will provide, but in the event that they don't offer any, should it be possible to recover the cost of a transit hotel (around £100) via UK261, i.e. paying out of pocket and claiming it back from them later?

When's the flight?0

flight is in progress; as mentioned there is now a seven hour layover at 1:30am rather than a 2.5 hour layover at 11:15pm as booked.Newbie_John said:When's the flight?0 -
In such case it's down to the difference between the original time of landing and the actual (even rescheduled) at such short notice - UK261 should work - unless they have some valid reasons for delay like war, weather etc.
But cash compensation and hotel compensation should in theory be possible:

Depending on who you're flying with just be prepared it may take a while.0 -
I'm not convinced hotels would be covered here - the delay isn't such that an additional nights stay is required, OP was already planning on taking off the following day.Newbie_John said:In such case it's down to the difference between the original time of landing and the actual (even rescheduled) at such short notice - UK261 should work - unless they have some valid reasons for delay like war, weather etc.

Sounds harsh, but it's the way the legislation is worded0
