I'm guessing you have a BBC account for BBC Sounds or BBC Weather etc. Whoever accessed iplayer then went ahead and used your cached and auto-completed BBC account credentials to log in. They must have logged into iplayer, even if they didn't watch any TV or you wouldn't have received the email. To prevent it ever happening again, just create a new BBC account with a new or disposable email address. Your old account will get deleted after 12 months if you no longer use it. This is why it's better not to complete any of the BBC's declarations and just bin the monthly letters unopened instead.

They linked your sign-in information to an address, which is unlawful processing of data- they have been told this and yet they still do it
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

I had a similar issue.  I think my bbc sounds login was used on iplayer when my son visited, till he realised. I got an email accusing me of using iplayer. I have no interest in iplayer, dont even have apps installed. I already have a declaration for no license since last year.
Can they just turn up and demand a visit inside my house or what do they need to demand access inside my house?

OP - your friend's TV licence covers that address and so they can sign on to anybody's iPlayer account (including yours) and watch it there legally. Ignore any letters from TVL

@mutley74 - yes they can turn up at your door in the same way anyone can turn up.at your door. Politely tell them you are not interested and close the door

They can demand what they like. Without a court issued warrant, you can tell them where to go using what ever language you deem appropriate.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

BBC Sounds doesn't require a TV Licence (I think this was one of the reasons for separating it from iPlayer).

As before in these threads, what the BBC is doing is matching email addresses between a "known" Licence-free address and an active iPlayer account.   That's far from being a foolproof process, mainly because both people and iPlayer usage can move between postal addresses.

The vast majority of reports say that there is no follow-up to these emails/letters about iPlayer usage.   So the most likely outcome is nothing.   Even if they did turn up at your address, they wouldn't be demanding entry, because that would be a breach of the law and of their visiting rules.   You can require them to leave anyway.
