Looking for inspiration re low (preferably zero) maintenance solution please.

I have included a couple of pictures by way of explanation but we own a corner property and the wall which borders our rear garden runs down the side of the house.
There is a strip of land currently covered with membrane and slate chippings which is situated between the garden wall and the pavement.
Because it is around the corner into a cul de sac we never routinely go down the side of the house but we have to regularly remove the weed growth from this strip of land and we are therefore looking for some inspiration for how to make this area maintenance free.
We have considered the obvious choices - asphalt or concrete but would prefer something which is hopefully a little more aesthetically pleasing whilst still giving us a fit and forget solution.
For clarification the fence you can see on one of the photos borders our front garden as it extends around the corner, the boundary then cuts in to the wall which is where the strip of land in question can be seen.
Any suggestions please?

I would probably get a pressure sprayer, and once a every few weeks spray it with glyphosate weedkiller, thats what i do.1

For a similar solution we dug out a layer of soil (couple of inches or so), then put a sand & cement mix down and let it take in the water from the air. Then after a few days once it had hardened put the slate chippings (small rock chippings in our case) back on top. Haven't needed to week for years now.3

How about a alternative route & put some wild flower seeds to encourage some insect & bee's etc to the area, pretty & little to no maintenance. 👍Life in the slow lane4

Could a variation on this be to add a layer of the slate chips before the mortar even dries?

resin bound gravel is a popular choice - you can even buy kits to DIY1

I'd go with the wild flower idea - help nature and no need to maintain.3
