I have now reinstalled Messenger from the Microsoft Store site, but the problem continues. Two peoples' current messages are only seen on the phone, not on the desktop

Hi Nebbit. Sorry, cannot help you, but want to add my voice to this. It IS an issue. Regardless of the fact that some lucky people "have no problem" I have EXACTLY the same issue. It IS a problem, and a recent one. Messages on FB on my phone, to which I reply, do not show when I check in to my FB messages on the desktop. So annoying. I only discovered this when, having exhnaged messages with eomone on my phone in FB messages, I wanted to follow up a few days later when on my desktop. NO sign at all of their initial message OR my reply! I could the last message exchange with whoever it is, which was about 6 months ago, but no sign of the recent exchange that was made on my phone. It's very annoying, and it IS a significant issue. I THINK it has been a problem since "end to end encryption" reared its head, but I am not very techy. Which is we use these forums of course hoping somebody friendly and MORE techy can give simple help. I.e. not just saying  "Really; well....I haven't got a problem!". Somebody out there must surely know what to do to fix this? I add my voice to yours.. Please Help!!

Sounds like a sync problem between your phone and your computer.
If you are using a Windows computer: 
Explain the problem you are having to Copilot & ask it for the an answer in simple terms.
 It will give you a list of things you can try. .

Lately the problem has resolved itself but in a very awkward manner. Recently when turning on Facebook on the computer I have been asked to copy down a code of a set of numbers and letters from an image, and then when entering FB messenger on the computer I have been asked to set a code number and then every subsequent login I have to enter the same code number. They *really* don't want people to use computers for Facebook!
