Facebook Messenger on Computer problem

I often use Facebook Messenger, on my desktop computer (Windows 11). I find that messages which appear on my phone (android) never appear on the computer. Does anyone know how to make them appear on the computer please, as I find it much easier to deal with when using a keyboard? Many thanks.

What I mean is that some of the messages people send me appear only on the phone, whereas some appear both on the phone and on the computer - yes I have been using the messages URL quoted above. I don't know how to get them all appear on both

Well I don't know what you're doing but I've just tried this and I can see exactly the same messages on the website as I can see in the Messenger app.

Facebook is centralised and you log into a central service so what you can see on one device should appear on the other, as it will all go through that central service first before your computer/phone gets to it.

I know it *shouldn't* happen, but it does!
  • I have no idea of this will work but have you tried logging out of Facebook on your PC and logging back in to see of that makes a difference?  Also have you tried it in a different browser?

No, that still doesn't work. Is it something to do with different encryption in Windows than in Android?
  • No idea why you are seeing different messages but you could try the FM Windows app

Go to the Google Play Store and check if there's an update available for the Messenger app. Also, if you're using the Messenger desktop app, visit the Microsoft Store to check for updates. If you're using a web browser, ensure it's updated to the latest version.

Been ages since I last used Messenger, but does the phone app have functionality to receive messages from other services (eg. SMS or WhatsApp messages) that it might be combining into your Messenger feed on your phone, but not on PC?

I don't think so, because my phone still gives me those messages separately in SMS or WhatsApp
