Switching LPG Suppliers

After 18 years with Calor Gas, I am currently going through the switching process and moving to Flogas for a number of reasons.  I was hoping that this would be straightforward, but after initiating the process in August, and being advised it would take 28 days, I am now in a position where Flogas say that Calor havent sent them the Tank Survey, yet Calor Gas are saying they have never received the switching documentation.  Each one is blaming one another and I feel I am getting no where and I am the one losing out.  I wonder if Calor Gas are just trying to make things difficult and I wonder if anyone else has experienced this and is there any regulatory body I can contact to intervene.

Welcome to the sharp practices of the LPG industry!

I switched (successfully) from Flogas to Avanti. Flogas claimed they didn't have the certification for the tank (which they installed). I made a lot of fuss, even contacted the tank manufacturer, and eventually F 'found' the paperwork. Sadly in cases like this I think they are deliberately trying to obstruct the switch, and to put you in a position of being forced to give up.

I would say hassle both suppliers. There is a trade body, Liquid Gas UK, https://www.liquidgasuk.org/consumer, that you could try.

I wrote to the Govt & Ofgem to explain why the industry was not working and should be better regulated.

There isnt a tank survey as such.

What there are are the tank test certificates starting with the manufactures certificate onwards.
LPG firms have 5 working days to provide those to the new firm.
Now a tank with no paperwork is a cheap tank.
The new firm can either mark down the price of the tank and come and test it, or reject the tank and fit their own.
