Gas man arrived unexpectedly this morning to read the metre and caught me in my PJs.  The cupboard is blocked by an armchair which is holding baskets of books against French windows. I pulled the chair out of the way and my jenga’d pile of baskets tipped over. Cue kicking everything out of the way so that he could get into the cupboard.

Ive tidied that area and mopped under the chair. My working from home area is now much more organised. I also swapped the throw that I put over the armchair (dogs) for an electric throw. I will not put the central heating on!  Heat the person, not the room.

Half dried half a washing load in the tumble drier then put it on the airer to finish off. Second half of that load will go into the drier when I get back from the dog walk.  At least one more wash load to go on later, including the thrown I’ve just changed.  I’m being heated by the tumble drier (I work in the kitchen, sat on an armchair with a laptop desk).

£9 Vinted sale and expenses claim for £94.96 meeting costs and zoom subscription sent in.
Im part way through my mileage claim. It’s a tedious form to fill in, but I have £8.10 to claim from two journeys filled in so far, and a few more to add, so it’s worth doing. Funds from expenses will go to paying for my hotel for a weekend in the south of France next autumn. I have paid £50 for that so far and need to pay another £105 by January. I need to book the flights soon as the longer I wait, the higher the price.

ive also had the bill for my hotels in India in the summer. I’ve paid the first £100 and need to find three payments of £166. I need to book the flights too. All of that is accounted for in the transport and holiday sections of my SOA.

i won’t book any more trips while I’m debt busting. I have enough booked (most paid for, but will need excursion money, internal transport and food saved for). I have £570ish in a bond to put towards my New Zealand hotels for summer 2026. Hopefully I’ll have enough Avios from Nectar points to pay a chunk off the flight costs.

Very account now stands at £733.33 after some bank account rounding down. I may have to pay the £3.33 tomorrow as it’s annoying me!

No groceries bought so far this week. I live on left overs and weird combinations on my childfree weeks. Meeting left over milk has saved me from nipping in to sm for a top up shop.  We all know I wouldn’t have just bought milk!  Any money left in the grocery budget will go to Very.

    30 days until pay day.

Unfortunately not. The computer sees it as an application for an OD and not as a reduction to an existing one. I wouldn’t be allowed a £2850 OD if it was a new request, so I can’t change it, even though my current limit is £2900! Totally daft. I’m going to have to save a lump sum and try lowering it each month, or be very disciplined and get to zero OD naturally then cancel the OD in it’s entirety.

The lady I spoke to said to try changing the limit again next month.

£3.33 sent from transport fund. I’ve already paid for most of the internal transport for my trip to France, so that’s OK to snaffle from.

I’ve overpaid Very by £118 since I started this diary 😁

Two Vinted parcels posted. One more is packaged and ready to go.  I doubt I will find the missing item.

I need to check the weather in Paris for the weekend and then ensure I’ve packed appropriate clothing. I need to steam a black dress for dining out in the evening.  I’m just taking one dress and different accessories. The rest of my clothes are for daytime sightseeing. I pack light. No duty free purchases planned, that can wait until Germany next month.

Early bedtime planned as I need to get up at 4.30am. I’m exhausted from a busy week, so should have no problem getting to sleep.

29 days until payday. My first full debt busting month. It will be good to see how much debt I’ve paid off whilst still travelling.

    Bonjour!

I have survived a solo flight to France, walked miles through the airport, caught a shuttle then a bus, and walked through a lovely park to my hotel.

Room was ready, so I’m dropping my rucksack off, drinking a strooooong coffee (I’ve been up since 3.45) and heading out to catch another bus and then a train into the centre of Paris.

Drive to the airport was a bit of a mare because the motorway was closed. Satnav didn’t tell me that! By the time I had got lost following the diversion signs, the cones were gone and I got on the motorway at my intended junction. I arrived at the airport 30 mins later than I had planned. Security then decided I look dodgy and I had a pat down and my rucksack pulled. I passed the drug mule checks 😆😆

Made it to the gate on time, and that’s all that matters. Plane was full of excited children going to Disney and my seat was kicked all the way to France. Never mind, it was only an hour, and she was wearing cute Minnie Mouse ears!

    Mona Lisa, here I come…
