EON.next Fixed vs Pledge vs exit fees
Hi all,
I'm looking to navigate the price cap change as best I can.
- currently on the Next Pledge Tracker 12m v5 - £100 exit fee - which has gone up to £201 / month
- I can change to Next Fixed 12m v28 - £100 exit fee - at £187 / month
- I can change provider to Outfox the Market - £50 exit fee - for £168 / month
I'm minded to change to Outfox as even with the £100 exit fee from Eon I'll save £100 BUT and here's the BUT:
If I change to the Eon Next Pledge Tracker 12m v6 at £201 which has *no* exit fees could I then change to Outfox thereby paying no exit fees?
Or am I missing something fundamental?

Any and all comments appreciated!
B

I'd phone or email EOn Next for a definitive answer if I were you.1

Call EON and check, but I moved from the old pledge tracker to a fixed deal with EON and there were no exit fees - when I spoke to them, they said the exit fees on the pledge tracker are only if you move to another energy supplier.1

Yes - this is my experience to date with Eon - I have moved internally between their tarrifs a couple times now and there were never any exit fees. It just looks a bit too easy, I dunno .. !

No exit fees of you stay with Eon1

I'm giving it a shot - new (more expensive) fixed tarriff with no exit fees starts tomorrow - will update as to whether I can exit from it on, say Friday, with no fees!

It should work. I did the same with Sainbury's (effectively Eon) and there were no charges leaving them after a "double-hop" to a no fees tariff.1

I didn't think Pledge v5 had any exit fees, regardless!!!
(Runs off to double check my paperwork)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.56% of current retirement "pot" (as at end January 2025)1 -
I've just checked and my original paperwork, and the latest bill, both state NONE against exit fees. No mention of waived only if you stay with Eon.
I am on the Pledge V5
However V3 DID have £25 exit fees per fuel, but these were waived when I went from V3 to V5. Billed but recredited.
Be interesting to see what your latest bill says. Can you post redacted pic. Are you sure you're on V5 ?How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.56% of current retirement "pot" (as at end January 2025)1 -
I'm on a fixed tariff and my bills have said 'none' to exit fees since February but I still get a pop up warning that says they will still apply when I try to switch. So I wouldn't pay too much attention to what your bills says regarding them. EOn acknowledge that the bill is misleading but refuse to do anything about it. They said all that counts is what is in your Ts & Cs.1
