Am I really going to sack Sky this time

17 years with VIP but not really sure what benefits VIP gives me.
My hubby wants sports, I want netflix. That's it. Not bothered about Showcase Atlantic tbh. I would miss my Q box for EPG and recording but I have a recording box that I rarely use in bedroom.

So currently hard chat from cancellation team got sky to £55 for above package. New members can get same deal for £4 cheaper. So I can get sports from Now TV and Netflix separately.

I really don't know if sky offer a better deal it's worth staying. What do others think. Is Sky worth it.

You can find Sky VIP benefits in the app.
You should work out how mush Now TV would charge you for what you want.  Sky should be able to give you something better for the same money.
I would stay with Sky because they're a great company to negotiate with.

Can I ask, does the £55 per month include broadband? Also, does the deal include TNT as well as Sky Sports? I think the answers to these questions will determine whether £55 a month is a good deal.

Sky Sports is £30 a month with Now TV, TNT is £31 a month with Discovery+, and Netflix is £11 a month. Broadband would be an additional £25 a month on top of these. If your £55 deal includes all of these, then it's a good deal.

If you do not have a Smart TV, you can buy a Google Chromecast for £35 which will enable you to watch Now TV, Netflix, and Discovery+ on your TV.

If you want a new TV recorder, the following gets good reviews: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3100000

I ditched Sky at the start of the year; I got fed up with the excessive price rises.
Thue still sent me great (not) comeback offers, but I'm fine with Freesat.

I would have ditched them ages ago but we kept it for sky sports for hubby. Yes we like the sky Q box but by the time we get the recordable box working I am sure I won't miss it. But if they could compete with alternative prices they might be worth it. But they are so expensive
  • I've just cancelled.  I just has Signature, netflix and multi room.  Was paying £59.50 best offer was £48.  As a blue light holder I could get signature and netflix for £23 and new customers are getting multi room for £10.  I asked for the same as a new customer would get and they said they couldn't do that. So I cancelled there and then.  If they would rather have nothing from me than at least offer me the same as a new customer then so be it.  I have a freesat recorder already and netflix and now TV will give me the same channels for £10.99 plus £6.99.  In this day and age when the mainstream channels provide their own streaming services it's crazy to pay a premium for a nice EPG

Yes I argued with assistant and said can get exactly the same package for £51. He said you can't. So I sat while on the phone and got a new customer quote with date for schedule all I needed was to confirm details. He still denied it saying I wouldn't get THE VIP and if I cancelled even if I renegotiate a better deal during cancellation I would lose VIP. But I have done it before several times and haven't lost the VIP. They just read from the script and cant deviate.

Hubby wanted to keep the box and has never wanted to leave before but even he has come round to the idea of now TV sports offers

In that case, you can ditch Sky and pay for Sky Sports on Now TV and Netflix. This will come to £41 a month which is cheaper than Sky.

You just need a Google Chromecast to plug into your TV and stream both services.

You don't "need" a Chromecast, Now works on lots of other devices, including the Firestick:

Sports on Now is quite often on offer.  As I write, £26 for six months.

Wow! Sorry Mr Pedantic. I was just trying to help someone out. It's true that you don't "need" a Chromecast, but I can only speak to my own experience and I know both these services work well on the Chromecast. The OP didn't mention anything about a Chromecast or Firestick so assumed they didn't have any of these.
