So I have a specialized external computer SSD drive.
Retails value is £1,360
My listed price is £869.99 or best offer - listed as used, although its practically as new, boxed etc.
The item has been listed and relisted for several months - I've had silly offers (one was £200!) , but am in no rush to sell so am happy to relist until the right offer comes along.
Had an offer today of £650.
I countered at £800.
He messaged me asking if I can take £700.
I responded saying £750 was my lowest.
He replied with the below:
--------------------------------------------
I would
Have so loved to sir.
We bought a 4TB one for church only to find that it’s a fake one after spending so much.
My pastor got real frustrated, and it’s been a task getting to ask the church to cough out £500.
O have had to add the extra £200 to make up for £700.This is the dilemma we have.
--------------------------------------------
I held firm at £750, and he has messaged me and agreed.
No formal offer placed yet.
However, looking at his feedback (over 100 positive) and particularly at the feedback he leaves for others, it seems he returns quite a bit and leaves negatives even after refunds, and on some items states there is a small scratch and leaves negatives etc also.
There are positives left as well - but it's putting me off of the sale. I know my item is genuine but I don't want any hassle.

I would be absolutely clear about the items I'm listing - mentioning the age, reason for selling, any damage and faults, no matter how minor. Detail which cables you're including and any other items the buyer might need to be able to use your device. Include several of photos including photos of anything you think the buyer might want to question. The buyer sounds genuine so I would try to work with the buyers. You shouldn't sell him kit only for him to later regret his purchase.1

What would you do?What a tender story, enough to bring a tear to the eye of all but the most cynical.Block and move on.
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid3 -
I’d have blocked as soon as I got the sob story, especially with the mention of a church, but then I’m very cynical!5

Another vote for block from me.
That sob story is almost certainly fake.
If it is true, then I would still block as, in my experience, religious types are no more honest than everyone else and can be far less reasonable and honest.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".3 -
Their message is giving me Nigerian prince vibes. I would not be selling to them if it was me.

Yeah, that's a block in my book as well.
