  • So today I've had £11 vinted sale, £4 on surveys but got more to do. I've got a £15 ebay sale but waiting on payment for that, not convinced they are going to pay though.....Wish e-Bay were stricter on that as it's not fair on the seller or the other bidders. Had a NSD, don't get many of them and was tempted to get a takeaway sandwich but headed home for something instead.

  • So bad news over the weekend, my car has started to kick out smoke and make a whining noise. I think it's the turbo, I've got it in at garage tomorrow but looks like it's going to cost around £500 which is such a kicker after thinking these issue were sorted for a while. Proper downheartened by it. All the little vinted and survey money over the last few months is basically wiped out overnight.

I really thought we was making progress, I'm gutted.

I know how frustrating it can be to have set backs but you HAVE made progress!! The car issue would have happened regardless of whether or not you'd been debt busting, so you have improved your position by doing all the things you've done so far. Fingers crossed it isn't a big issue.
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)
  • So bad news confirmed, car has cost £550, It's increased our debt as my parents have paid it for us to make us more comfortable over the next few months. Nothing I can do about it so have to stay positive. What I will do is try include the overall money I owe my parents into an extra monthly payment. At the moment I don't pay them back as I'm obvioulsy paying interest elsewhere and they would prefer me to do that but at the same time I don't like owing them so much.

So moving on, I have had 2 refunds through yesterday for seperate incidents from our summer holiday, just coincidentally both came through so that has pushed us forward from the car issue. I've had a few ebay sales, potential facebook market place sale of £30 tonight and about £10 from surveys. I'll be having a break from that over Christmas and hit it with vigour in the New Year.

One little victory though, Klarna is now paid off. My first debt cleared!

  • It's frustrating owing family money but if they are happy to wait I'd definitely focus on other interest charging debt first. Alternatively could you make a token payment via s/o

    Happy New Year.
So my aim this year is to get my debt down by £10,000. Some of that is almost guaranteed through £4000 in loan payments, £1000 in retail debts. I have a target per month but with interest the progress will get bigger with each passing month.

In the mean time, need to focus on Surveys, e-Bay/Vinted Listing, avoiding unnecessary spending. Strange month this with the car issues still on this pay packet etc..... feel like February is a better time to take stock of what can be done!

Applied for a small piece of consultancy work would literally be just an hours work but would bring in an extra £60 and can be done flexibly.

Not many surveys around at the moment. Did all the ones available but only got £3 from them. Had our Home Insurance renewal through, they matched the lowest offer we could get but this was still the same price as last year so no saving. Might be able to turn it into a multicover deal in March when our car insurance renews.

House is about back to normal post Christmas, will use this weekend to get a box of things listed on e-bay and vinted with the aim of having what we currently have boxed up all listed by summer.

Had a bit of good news today, met with my bank to discuss a few aspects of finance and they have changed my loan. It's now 6.9% instead of 21.3%! We've changed the payment amount to £250 instead of £460 and slightly extended it. This is so taht I can use the £210 saving to pay off higher interest credit cards quicker and thus hopefully create a snowball of being able to 0% balance transfer and then as my out goings on them go down especially once all credit card debt is on 0% I can make additional payments to the loan to try pay it off quicker.

Nice little boost and increase in motivation to crack on with surveys and selling!
