Myself partner 20 month old son and my elder parents flying from Bristol to Palma . Package holiday. Easy jet. 21sept - 28th sept .
Flight was supposed to take off at 0905 but got delayed and kept getting pushed back and around 1400 they told us the flight had been cancelled and would be re arranged for the following day but were not currently able to give us a time of the flight which was very off putting. ( they were offering hotels to passengers )
there was a flight with jet 2 to my destination and space for me and my family to go. £892 for flights. So I paid that off we went.

I rang east jet and asked them if they could arrange a transfer. They stated no.
Taxi €160 paid.
When I landed a recieved an email stating that the arranged flight was due to fly at 0900 in the morning. But I had already arrived.
I've tried claiming compensation for taxi and cost of flight and the fact I lost a day of the holiday due to them. And they stated because I didn't catch the re arranged flight I'm not entitled to the compensation....
what can I do

Its two separate claims which you should keep separate to avoid any spurious declines.
1. Reimbursement for your costs to get from A to B
Your argument is the flight they offered was unreasonably late considering you found another sooner with availability. What time did you actually fly? Where was the taxi to/from - if it was because the Jet2 flight was to/from different airports then you can try to claim to get you to/from the original airports.
Nothing for concequential losses beyond that.
2. Fixed Compensation
This is only if the delay / cancellation / rearrangement was their fault. If so, then you could claim a fixed £ amount based on the distance and length of delay. This would replace anything for the lost day, further transfers, etc.

Thanks for the fast reply.I did complete 2 separate forms. One for compensation and one for expenses.Easy jet flight 0905 - cancelled at 1400
booked with jet 2 - flight time 1740
both to Palma airport.
taxi - Palma airport to my package holiday hotel.I've tried the fixed £ ammount and they said I was entitled to it because I didn't catch the alternative flight. Not sure where do go from here because my claims have been rejected both on the basis of " you did not catch the provided alternative flight , therefore not entitled to compensation "0 -

Was the flight actually cancelled, or just delayed by 24 hours?0

Was cancelled and they re arranged a flight for the next day. But 100% cancelled. They have now come back and said they will look into the expenses ... but still entitled to compensation as I took alternative transport.0

From looking at the industry data, this looks like EasyJet have run it as a 24 hour delay flown on an alternative flight number, to avoid confusion. This is crucial, as if it's a 24 hour delay, you aren't entitled to compensation if you rerouted. If it is a cancellation, compensation may be due depending on the reason.
If you get no luck with EasyJet, you can contact AviationADR to start a claim. It's worth pointing out the flight was operated by EasyJet Europe, not EasyJet UK, so any court action could be more complex.0
