Please explain VOIP. :-)

Depends what you mean , if you have VF over City Fibre , and Toob are also only over City Fibre , you could enquire if you can have two connections, but CF would look to simply to migrate you from one to the other , VF once ceased should hold your number for 30 days incase you need it to be ported , if the VoIP provider asks for the number within those 30 days , VF should ( but what they should do and actually do may not be the same ) port the number to the VoIP provider.
It’s not going to be a seamless transfer , if it works at all ( and VF in my opinion are useless ) you could have 7-10 days without the number ( providing you immediately start the port process with VoIP ) , if they or VF mess up the number is lost .FWIW , the only experience with this I have is on Openreach , on City Fibre, Vodafone may have separate telephone and broadband contracts so you may be able to port the VF number and keep the VF broadband ‘live’ …..1 -
I'm wary about moving ISP without also having some guarantee about porting the number. Whether that means porting the number first to an indie VOIP provider, and then moving the ISP afterwards, I don't know.I think, for mil, I need to keep it simple, so it'll almost certainly be to an ISP with included VOIP.0
