I got my elderly gran this deal last year for £30 and no need to top up however it is now time to top up again and it has gone up to £40 pound and must use £10 pounds of data each month.
I notice however the old deal is still available to new customers who order a new sim, Does anybody know if the ordering a new sim deal would be allowed if we pose as new customer.
She was fine with the old deal but being forced to use £10 a month when she is a light user has put me off getting this for her.
She texts and sometimes calls but uses hardly any internet so only wants something about £30 per year.

I think you may have misunderstood.
Straight forward pay as you go where you pay per minute and per text and per megabyte has a minimum spend of £10 every 90 days. Per year that works out at £40. The £40 tariff is just paying that upfront for low users who won't go over £10 a quarter.
The tariff with unlimited calls, texts and 500 megabytes of data per month, is £48 per year with nothing extra to pay (provided you don't go over the data) That's £4 a month which doesn't sound unreasonable.0 -
