Apologies if I was. What I meant was: bed, breakfast and evening meal. I believe that is what people generally understand by the term.

Ideally somewhere pleasant, i.e. not London...
On the pricier end I'd recommend the package offered by Tom Kerridge at the hand and flowers in Marlow - easily accessible by train from London, meals at the Hand & Flowers (breakfast and 1 dinner) and the coach (dinner) plus accommodation in Marlow...

My only provisio is this is not for those who are veggie/vegan.

Potters often always have discount codes available.
Still expensive by the time one pays to upgrade from the basic of basic rooms' prices  ;)

They are not cheap, but the entry level rooms have always seemed pretty good to us at Five Lakes though less so at Hopton bungalows

"not London" is quite a broad geographical area - FWIW, London can be "pleasant" but it's a city break, obvs.

If the South East would be acceptable, we recently stayed at Old Thorn's Hotel in Liphook.  If your dates coincide with when they have "one night wonder" rates available, the price is quite reasonable for BB&EM.  It is possible to book consecutive "one night wonder" stays if booking by phone.
  • How about Torquay, 4 interconnected hotels with plenty of leisure facilities. Quite reasonably priced and was an acceptable standard when I stayed several years back

is a chain owned by a coach tour operator Alfa Travel and they offer B&B+EM at all their hotels as standard.

Sometimes these work out cheaper if booked as a "self drive hotel break" through Alfa Travel.

The websites are a bit clunky so it might be easier to phone.

Many other hotels will offer attractive meal-inclusive rates if you stay a Sunday night as this generally is a slow night in hotel restaurants
