SABA Parking Charge Notice - Surely something to be done?

Coupon-mad said:I certainly have proof of payment for parking in the other SABA site although don't yet see how this is useful. That evidence (plus showing proof of the international match, not just stating that there was one) would have won the case at POPLA. They have often found in favour of appellants who prove they left (due to not finding a space) and attach proof that they then parked elsewhere.
You would also have had 100% nailed on win if you'd simply appealed as registered keeper!
I wish you'd come and asked us before appealing but no worries. You didn't park. You owe nothing. Easy to defend if they try a claim.
Do not pay and please don't show us the tedious £170 debt crawler letters you'll get.
Never ever appeal as admitted driver.
As a side note, I contacted TFL and asked for them to encourage Saba to bin the charge (knowing this was an unlikely outcome). They said:
"Sadly, Tfl customer services cannot assist with parking charges issued by Saba Parking."
And yes, I have had the ZZPS letter requesting payment of £170.
I am soon to move to a new address and curious about the need/requirement to update anyone with my new address regarding this entire process (I would, of course, rather not (obviously I will update the details on my V5C)).0 -
Eh?
You'd rather not tell them you've moved, thus completely risking a CCJ behind your back?
Eek NO!
Read the LBC response letter in the second post of the NEWBIES thread (even though you aren't yet at LBC stage). That shows you what to say and to use the word ERASE.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If court proceedings are issued to your current (soon to be former) address and you have no knowledge of their issue in order to respond, you'll end up with a County Court Judgment (CCJ) with a potentially crushing impact on your creditworthiness for the following 6 years.

Tell them when you move! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

From a process perspective, I understand the need to play the game as professionally as possible.
The more of the newbies thread that I read, the more it seems I am entering a spiral of time consuming, confidence-knocking, and overall worrying levels of the game. It makes you wonder if things would have been easier just paying the initial £70 charge. And then I remind myself that I shouldn't be coerced into losing my cash or feeling guilty.1 -
nothing time consuming with this firm2

No it's all easy. We've done the time consuming bit.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Since original post I have now received three follow up letters by post: two letters from ZZPS chasing up payment for the 'debt', and most recently a note from Moorside Legal who have been 'instructed by Saba Park Services to recover the outstanding sum of £170'.
"We may be instructed to start legal proceedings against you unless you make payment in full either as a one-off payment or as part of an agreed payment plan."
I am ignoring at this stage. Any advice on what to expect next in a typical scenario like this?

Search the forum for Moorside Legsl to see examples of their LBC and court claims.
They are new kids on the block. But several examples are on the forum. Badly pleaded particulars. Nothing to worry about.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Curious about this - if you follow the instructions on paying a Saba penalty notice to this page: https://www.sabaparking.co.uk/pay-a-parking-ticket you can click through to an online payment portal, but the page does not exist.
So even if you want to pay this lot, they make it hard for you
Someone should register the domain. https://www.ipaymypcn.net/lander
Context - I was not going to pay the charge, just interested in the process.2 -
Agreed, the first two work but if you want to pay a Penalty Notice received through the post, there is, as you wrote, an issue. Since you won't be paying, it is academic!
