Who's running the highest miles?
Genuinely curious as to whos running the highest miles cars in here.
My Golf 1.6TDI is 2014 and has 156K on it. When i mention the miles i usually get a "oh wow thats high" type of reaction from friends and family.
I'm sure if i went to sell it something would "take it off my hands" for a nominal sum, but it feels like a wee car that would do 250,000 no problem.

My last car before leaving Malaysia was a BMW 328i with 248,000 miles on it... The auto gearbox had a funny turn - so it got sold on... 156k isn't bad

I have a 2009 eos which is on 170k (currently SORN as using a different car to teach my son to drive) and a 2007 one which my daughter uses on 165k. They're worth very little so happy to run them until they fall apart.1

Thats what i'm finding with the Golf. Its worth more to me to keep, for all i'd get for it if i went to sell it, and what would i replace it with that wouldnt cost ££££s more? I saw a lovely 2018 Golf for £13K and then i thought, hang on they'd be looking well over £10K to change and it'd be pretty much the same car!GrumpyDil said:I have a 2009 eos which is on 170k (currently SORN as using a different car to teach my son to drive) and a 2007 one which my daughter uses on 165k. Photo of my FIAT Marea Weekend hitting 300k (km) on the clock - sold it about two years later with a shade under 400k - around 245k miles. Alternator replaced at 340k. Original clutch but the clutch pedal fell apart at 380k.
My next door neighbour's E-class diesel was on 600,000km - also on the original clutch.

I used to use Rover 218 & 418 diesels for mini cabbing.
They had 100k on them at least when purchased.
I would run them to 300k or 4 years.
Then give them to family or sell them for a few hundred quid.
2 drivers I knew had Nissan Bluebirds with over 500k miles.
A few Mercedes E300 with 500k as well.

My 11 reg Megane 3 was 214,000 when I traded it in last year
I got it when it was 6 months old with 19,000 on it (ex lease car)1 -
I had an "R" registered (1997?) Mondeo from new and ran it to 200k miles when company policy forced sale - I sold it locally and saw it running around for a good number of years after that.
I had a 2007 Focus which reached 145k miles before the milometer display broke during COVID. I ran the car until two years ago and then passed it on to my Nephew, who scrapped it earlier this year. Final mileage is unconfirmed.
I am not so sure that the latest ICE cars are always as durable.1 -
My husband's Ford Galaxy (63 reg) has over 250,000 miles on the clock. It refuses to die.... although the rear lights are held in with Gorilla tape and repairing the air-con would cost more than the vehicle is worth!#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661
