Change of flight details by Easyjet

Hello,
Sorry if this is repeating what other people have said.
I recently received an email from Easyjet saying that my flights from Bristol to Madeira had been cancelled and that no further flights would go from there. (This was a package holiday inc hotel) They had changed the flights to Gatwick (same flight times, early morning). We live in Cornwall and had booked an overnight stay at the Hilton (non refundable). I phoned Easyjet and got a next to useless response, just reading my 3 options to me over the phone, which I already new about! They said no to refunding the Hilton, no to paying travel costs or hotel stays for London Gatwick, so a lot more expense for us if we agreed the change of airport. Disappointingly we had to choose the refund as we could incur further costs from our budget.
Should we be entitled to claim compensation due to total loss of holiday?
Many thanks.
