Outstanding Annual Leave to be included in redundancy notice period payment?

Hello all.
I have recently been made redundant and as part of that I was to be paid my 8 weeks notice period. I have also been told that I have to take my outstanding annual leave of 14 days as part of that time - is this correct?
I may be wrong but I feel that this means that I would be paying for three weeks of my notice period myself and therefore only being paid five weeks notice... am I missing something here?
Any suggestions and/or advice would be very much appreciated as this is a significant amount of money at an obviously very difficult time.
Thank you in advance.

Not sure I follow you - do you get paid holiday ?
If so then you're still getting the same eight weeks pay, just not being expected to work for just under three weeks of them.
The alternative would be that they paid you eight weeks notice (that you worked throguhout) , and then also paid you for untaken holiday leave on top, and they are under no obligation to do that.0 -
Yes, an employer can designate when you use your holiday, so that includes insisting its used during your notice period.
Re "you're paying for 3 weeks" - well assuming you get paid holidays, then this is the same as that. By chance are you not expecting to go in at all during the notice period?0 -

The notice (or pay in lieu) aspect of this is just the same as it would be if you were leaving for any other reason. Your employer can choose to have your work your full notice, then pay you for any untaken holiday or to require you to use up some or all of the holiday during the notice period.
It seems they have chosen the second option, which is their right.1
