British Gas Tariffs

Basically no, because we don't know whether it's gas, electricity or dual fuel, nor your annual usage in kWh taken from actual meter readings, nor your region(s). If it's fixed, what are the exit fees?0

I think there was a recent post where an existing BG customer signed up for an old tariff via the comparison sites and BG actually accepted that so if cheaper then go for it0

Just to clarify.
My dual fuel fixed v22 tariff has ended.
Annual usage:
Gas:12,384 kwh
Elec:2400
I have attached screenshot of v16
tariff(through Uswitch)
and v40 tariff(direct from British Gas)
I live in Edinburgh

Note that the high exit fees still apply even if you switch to the BG variable tariff !Do the sums and compare it with Octopus's 15 Month fix which has no exit fees. You can also get £50 back using a referral code from another Octopus customer.1

v40 looks like a special existing customer renewal rate
Based on usage contained within quote Octopus are about £100 more expensive, so I guess depends what value O/P puts on no exit fee to change to SVR and maybe giving £50 credit to someone he/she does not know,
O/P stated usage figures are E 79 kWh higher, Gas 765 kWh higher which would widen gap
Unit Rates Octopus E 23.33p kWh British Gas 21.83p kWh G Octopus 5.62p kWh British Gas 5.39p kWh

It's the price per kiloWatt hour (kWh).More accurately, it's the calculated annual cost of each fuel (kWh + standing charges) for the expected annual usage (derived from actual, not estimated, meter readings 12 months apart). If it's a fixed tariff you also need to factor in the exit fees if you leave more than 49 days before the end. Finally, don't forget any referral bonuses and the customer service reputation. British Gas and Scottish Power are rated the worst by 'Which?'.0
