Heating my office

Get a compressor type dehumidifier and run it non stop for a few days with the door closed, lowering the humidity level in room will make it more comfortable and there will be some heat given off by the process.1

"heat the person, not the room"
I have one of these and it is absolutely superb:

I have also considered a heated seat mat as others suggest, but never actually acquired one.2 -
What hours do you work and how much would you like to spend per day, per week?

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I use an oil filled radiator and a blanket on my lap.My other trick is that the radiator in the office is oversized (like that when we moved in) so if I keep the door shut it stays warm from the hour the gas central heating runs in the morning. Although it’s not actually cold enough for our heating to come on yetMFW 2021 #76 £5,145

You either heat with electricity, or you turn the central heating on. All electric heaters are equally efficient, so I don’t know why people are recommending oil filled?
Having sat at a cold home office desk, I have tried a fan heater and then later an oil filled radiator.
The fan heater warms you up quick of course, but within minutes of switching it off you feel cold again.
The lower KW rated oil heater was left on all the time but with the thermostat around the middle point.
Also you can warm your hands, legs etc on it.
Safer as well, as with the fan heater you have to be careful not to block the flow of air.1 -
Fit suitable gas boiler controls so that only the Office room is heated during the working day.
Smart electrically operated TRVs, and/or zone valves with wireless thermostats. Drayton Wiser is an example system.
May or may not pay for itself c.f. electric heaters. But manually shutting off and opening room TRVs may do the same job?

But manually shutting off and opening room TRVs may do the same job?We know that gas is cheaper than electric, so it makes sense to use gas when you have it.The other benefit is that you can then heat the other rooms appropriately through the rest of the week, so office rads down when you move to the lounge etc.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

My office is also north facing - we bought an Adax Neo electric Panel heater around £170 from Am@zon. Its slimline and can be fitted to the wall - just plugs in. There's also an app so I can turn it on 20 mins before I start work, and I find it handy to check that I've remembered to turn it off. Seems really efficient, although my office is well insulated so once its reached temperature the heater turns itself off (and doesn't need to come on again much all day). The app also lets you see how much electricity you've used. I considered one of the heaters/air con units that drew heat from the air outside, but wasn't sure about the positioning. I also thought it seemed counterproductive to make a hole in the wall as the top thing for energy efficiency seems to be insulation against draughts. I'm really pleased with the heater, I'm never cold and everyone is always amazed how warm my office is when its cold outside."Think of many things, do one"
