Sorry - maybe I wasn't clear. :o I meant that as the kittens would be knocked out for neutering, the microchipping procedure would also be carried out under anaesthetic.

If just microchipping is to be carried out, then no need for anaesthetic. :)

Ah right...........yeah, if they're knocked out anyway, do it.

If not, it gives you a good insight into their character - our half-feral, (having not even flinched having it done), subsequently went nose to nose with a fully-grown Rottweiler two doors up and made the Rottweiller back down...........something that has hit home to me today having heard about that poor child who was killed by one.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.
  • I had my cats chipped when they were neutered to save any unecessary pain, however slight. Cats shouldn't be going out until they're neutered anyway so virtually no chance of them getting lost whilst un-chipped. Cost was £20 each.

When the paperwork came through from the microchip company I upgraded to 'petlog premium'. Basically to make a change to the chip details ie phone number, address when you move etc it costs £7.50 per animal each and every time.

Petlog premium gives you UNLIMITED, instant changes, online or over the phone plus a few other features for just £10 (says a special offer down from £15 but it was £10 back in August when I upgraded too). Considering I hope to have my cats for 20 odd years I think that's pretty good value :)http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/438
