Airport authority delays caused missed flight

My wife & I arrived at Luton Airports Long Term stay car park around 2 1/2 hours before our flight. We then waited at nearest bus stop, with around 20 passengers. A number of buses passed us, with "sorry bus full". It took at least an to get to the terminal.
We dropped our bags off & proceeded to Security. Basically it couldn't cope with volume of passengers.
We missed our flight & resort transfer. We had to rebook both at a cost of £265.
We have written to Luton Airport
What is our likelihood of compensation?

I imagine it'll be unlikely but you might get some modest goodwill gesture out of them if they accept responsibility for insufficient car park bus capacity that day.
Too late now obviously, but if you'd already checked in bags but still didn't make it through security before the flight closed (and your bags would then have been removed) then it may have been more pragmatic to fork out for the fast track security option?0 -

You arrived at the airport terminal later than you should have been, because of issues with the bus transfer from car park to terminal. Security at the airport was very busy and hence you ended up missing your flight and incurring extra costs.Normally you can ask staff to fast track you through security if you're in danger of missing your flight. What was the response when you raised this concern at the time?I don't think you have any hope of getting compensation but if you can get something from the bus company saying that the buses were full at the time, then you might be able to make a claim through your travel insurance.

I've been in long delays at security, and several times Staff come over calling anyone on flights ready to depart to come to the front of the line. If the airport didn't do this you could ask why - it's normal procedure in several UK airports.
