Talktalk rep scam?

I just had a guy round claiming to be a talktalk rep, looked like a fake photocopy badge, he was insisting on coming into the house to check my line. Not gonna happen. He was insistent and said that other people were doing it because of complaints about the Internet dropping after new fiber was put it. I was not convinced but he wouldnt take no for an answer. I got him to go with some short words but it seems like a total scam. Has this happened to anyone else?

If they are so pushy than ring the police.

Are you with Talk Talk firstly?
  • Suggest you report it to Which - they provide a free newsletter with info about the latest scams.  If it was a genuine visit, Talktalk would have notified you in advance so you did good to send him packing.

I'd contact the police. They may not be very interested but someone needs to check what he's up to.

I'm not with talktalk. If I was or someone else answered the door, it could have lead to a not very good situation. I don't think cold calls should be allowed at all, personally.
