The optimum backing glass option for heat/light?

I'm getting a new door with a double glazed panel to improve the light. I don't want just clear glass and there seems options for different types of obscure backing glass but mainly 2 sorts - textured glass or satin/frosted glass - I prefer. Looking on glass websites they all have blurb that focuses on privacy and to some extent mention light but I can't find any mention of whether they all have the same thermal properties. Any one have any knowledge on which is best for a heat retention/light balance?

The glass will have to meet minimum standards for thermal performance regardless of the pattern or frosting. What you might lose out on is thermal gain when the sun shines.Had some windows fitted a year or so back, one of which was a bathroom window. I wanted something with a light frosting, but not overpowering. Got handed a small sample, and it kinda looked OK. After being fitted, way heavier than expected... Level 5 privacy is the rating given for that particular bit of glass.I would strongly recommend you get to see a large pane of glass with your chosen pattern/frosting before making a final decision - 600x600mm minimum. Her courage will change the world.
