Hi, I'm going to up my budget from now on as since DS has started secondary school he's having a packed lunch most days. He used to have school dinners at primary school and I didn't include that in my budget but it turns out he's not that fond of the offerings at the new school and has been mostly just buying a sandwich and cake from the canteen. I figured I can provide him with a more nutritious version from home and it'll probably cost less too.
So please can I go for £300 for the month. Thanks

£400 for this month please. For me that's 4 weeks at £100 a week for 2 adults and 2 teens.
I would love to come under budget. I didn't manage it last month.
Good luck all!

Hi Elsiepac,
Could you put me down for £220 please?
That includes Hallowe'en treats, if any, as I'm on the 4th floor and don't get trick or treaters.
thanks,

I had a very good September and have banked some credit for the end of the year. But October is a new month with different challenges including half term, and a planned visit to family which will result in eating out and use more fuel than normal.
Because of this I'm reverting to our usual budget of £650. This is for food, cleaning products, and toiletries for four adults and two growing children. Plus fuel for two vehicles.
The many reduced meat purchases from September has set us up quite nicely so hoping to keep the spending low for the first few weeks as we use up the freezer stocks.

Hi all. Haven't done the grocery challenge for many years but keep going over budget so posting for accountability.
Budget is reasonable at £600 for 4 adults. I am gluten, dairy and egg free (and I don't eat meat just fish). Rest of family (3 large males) eat meat, normal bread, dairy etc but happy to have meals with lots of beans. We get through significant quantities of fruit and veg, plus nuts and seeds, and masses of peanut butter.
£40 of budget is for cupboard stocks (tins, toilet rolls etc)
I'm budgeting for 5 weeks from today;
£112 per week of which £60 at supermarket, £30 cash for top ups through the week, and £22 at local health food shops.
It should be easily doable but never is!
I've already spent £122.25 of the budget today - Sainsburys 102.28 (including the £40 for cupboard stocks) health food shops 19.97 so just got the £30 cash left for week.
Off to do a whole load of batch cooking.

Hi All
October budget: Put me down for £400 on groceries and £180 for coffee/lunch/takeout spends please?
October should be better than last 2 months as I get a work provided lunch outside of our peak summer seasonSo that will help with both figures hopefully!
We are already on £104.98/£400 as we had a Mr T order today - so we wont need anything in for a week now hopefully6 -
Morning all. There's an Amazon Subscribe and Save debiting tomorrow for £14.62. I'll likely do a Tesco order this afternoon for delivery tomorrow evening. I'll try to keep that to £60 or less.
£14.62 / £325.00 spent. £310.38 remaining.

I've spent £19.84 on fresh items plus a few jars and bits.
So, just over £20 for the rest of the week.
I'm still trying to run the freezer down, so other than a few fresh things and milk, I may have minimal spend for the rest of the weekDecluttering campaign 2023

We are at home for much more of October than we were in September so in theory we should be eating out less and visiting coffee shops less. I've got hot chocolate and a milk frother so I should be able to create a nice cosy treat at home rather than spending over £3 a pop in the coffee shop.
£350 this month please7 -
It's payday for us so today's spend is in the October budget: £49.06 gone already! This was a small supermarket spend, a joint bought from the butcher now in the freezer for the coming weekend (OH & I are away Thursday morning-Saturday evening) and a fairly hefty stock-up at the Grape Tree, of herbs, spices, nuts and seeds. I'll be hurtling down to L!dls tomorrow or Wednesday as well but don't need much - probably around another £50-worth. I'll have to do without my usual market goodies but we do have plenty in the freezer to be going on with. I'm meal-planning like mad to try to keep both expenses & waste to an absolute minimum this month so going away over market day is a bit of a nuisance, but we'll enjoy ourselves so it's worth it.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)5
