Just double checked the base. I can't see any sign of a screw or a cover.
I'm not sure how old it is. We have been here 9 years but it's not been working for, a guess, 5.
Yes, I know. One of those jobs that can always be done "tomorrow"  :D
At risk of stating the obvious, how do you get the bulb replaced?
If it's not user replaceable, you buy a new lamp.

I thought so. How very "green" and I'll assume potentially expensive. I think I might leave it for the time being.

They're £20 from Amazon... So not that expensive.

Not as cheap or as green as replacing a £2 light bulb.

  • Westv, if there ain't any screws to secure the outer cover, there must surely still be a couple to attach the actual light to the wall - can you see these? If so, power off at t'CU, and remove the whole unit? Fair chance you'll then find a way in to the fitting from the back.
As said by others, good chance what's inside will be a couple of LED strips mounted on a PCB - once it's gorn, it's gorn.
I ripped such a thing out of a similar light fitting that failed waaay too soon, and added a couple of SES holders that took normal LED lamps instead.
Annoyingly, the LED strips worked after being removed :-(

I wonder if it's a different make that Westv has? Instructions for the Philips:

  • The cover must come off as you can't usually fit it these to the wall without fitting the main body first, then putting the cover on. Maybe get an electrician to remove it altogether and get something more practical fitted.

    Yup, surely.
Westv, could you take a photo from above and one below, please - perhaps a whole end cover comes off first?

Sure. I'll do that when I get a chance.
