Virgin Holidays vs Virgin Atlantic - pricing

Advice please!
I visited a Virgin Holiday branch to ask questions about booking a flight (this was 12 months before the date and I knew flights not normally released until 11 months before); I was basically worried the price would increase between the outward flight release and the return journey flight opening (I am going away for a month). I had questions about booking a flexible ticket etc
I was therefore surprised when the agent told me that I could book the flight then and there. She went through it all and advised that if I booked one night in a cheap Florida hotel to make it a package holiday with the benefit being that I only had to pay 10% deposit rather than the full price of a flight only.
I asked her if I would be better waiting for the return flight date to open to book a flight only and she assured me that the price would be no different - the only difference would be the $100 hotel fee.
I was a bit shocked at the price she quoted but she told me there were not many places left - school summer holidays - so I booked even thought the price of a premium economy seat was actually the same as upper class on many flights.
The flights have now opened online for both legs of my trip (4 weeks apart) and I could literally have saved £1000 had I waited.
The agent was lovely but I feel I have been mis-sold. Do I just grin and bear it or is it worth a call to the branch to chat?
Thanks

how much does the deposit amount compare to the savings? You should be able to cancel your package at this point for loss of the deposit and then you could rebook the flight only0
