And try something like this to your MP. Be sure to include your age, and maybe mention something along the lines that the time and attention you are having to dedicate to supporting your father with this is detracting from your studies for your GCSEs.Subject: Help with Unfair Parking Charges at GP SurgeryDear [MP’s Name],I hope you are well. My name is [Your Name], and I am writing to ask for your help with an upsetting situation my family is dealing with involving unfair parking charges at our local GP surgery.Recently, my father was issued a parking fine while visiting the surgery. Unfortunately, my father doesn’t speak much English and didn’t understand how to validate his parking. Now, we are receiving threatening debt collection letters that are causing my family a lot of stress and anxiety. It’s really frightening because we don’t always know which letters are official and which ones are just aggressive debt collectors trying to scare us. The language used in these letters has made my parents really upset and worried, and they don’t know what to do.What’s even more frustrating is that the GP surgery has the power to ask the parking company to cancel these charges, but they seem unwilling to help, even though they know about my father’s situation. I’ve already contacted them to ask for the charges to be cancelled, but so far, they haven’t done anything to stop this from happening.I’m really hoping that you could help us resolve this. It doesn’t feel right that patients should be treated like this, especially when it’s through no fault of their own. We trust our doctors to take care of us, and this has left us feeling really let down.I would be so grateful if you could get involved and support us in getting these charges cancelled. My family and I don’t know where else to turn.Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I hope to hear from you soon.Kind regards,[Your Name][Your Address][City, Postcode]

TheSecretSocialist said:Try this for the unhelpful practice manager. Just personalise it a bit.[Your Details ][Date]Practice Manager[GP Surgery details]Dear Practice Manager,I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my concerns about a parking charge that has been unfairly issued to my father, [Father’s Name], while visiting the surgery. My father speaks very little English and, as a result, he did not understand the process for validating his parking session.I understand that the parking management company operates on behalf of the surgery, and that the surgery has the authority to instruct them not to pursue parking charges if they choose to. In this case, I believe it is only fair that the surgery instructs them to cancel this charge, considering my father’s situation and the misunderstanding that has occurred.Additionally, I would like to bring to your attention that I will be writing to our local MP to express my dissatisfaction that the surgery is working with a parking management company that engages in practices that seem to unfairly penalise patients. I will be seeking their support in resolving this issue.I trust that you will take my concerns seriously and contact the parking management company to ensure that this charge is cancelled.Thank you for your time and understanding. I look forward to your prompt response.Yours sincerely,[Your Name]0

Why is there so much concern over the health of people to who you are writing? I think those letters sound like they have been written by Chat Gpt. Just keep it on a business footing.2

I used to have to call on surgeries and get past the front desk receptions or practice managers, a little 'hey - how are you today' never goes amiss2 -
Addressing the person you are writing to and wishing they are well is kind of traditional formal writing etiquette when instigating communication.2

Just a quick Google enquiry:-
Can you say "I hope you are well" in a professional email?Short answer is yes, but mind the intention and context of the email. In some contexts, especially in the academic world, it could be customary to to use it. So if you're emailing a professor, you can consider using the phrase. In business context, the phrase is most often unnecessary or even counterproductive. 23 Sept 20241 -

It's just another debt collection letter. Use it as emergency toilet paper and go back and re-read the Newbies/FAQ thread.1
