Would they take a driving license/passport? Could you try phoning them up - they have exams coming up at regional centres (Stafford college/uni?) so maybe they will have administrators who can check the docs. I'm not sure I have ever seen my birth certificate - the parchment's probably disintergrate by now .

My passport is in my maiden name.... and it's the proof of nationality that I need it for... hmmm... might give them a call..

Give the pubs where you dropped your cv off a ring to make sure they got it okay, and ask them again if they have anything available at the moment? Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time, and sometimes you have to pester!

Well I only dropped it in to places that were recruiting... might have to go further afield me thinks...

Have you tried (ok sounds odd) but bookies, they are open strange hours (lots of part time shifts) and a lot of people don't want to do anything with numbers or with that slightly seedy image - good case study for CAB training - the gambling-debtor too

Branches of staples have photocopiers.

Ask the OU if there's a regional centre or a day when they are doing exams when one of their exam administrators could do it... local college....
ex-college tutor? Any friends working in childcare certification, health visitor, banks?

GPs will charge.
