Didnt you say that natwest are your problem? Then getting a step up account with the enemy is not the best idea is it?
There are many basic accounts out there, I have a natwest one which I have had for yrs and it has a solo card also, as has already been said the co-op do a popular one.
I find your style of writting very chuckle making..Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -
The flourish is my style - I'm a writer.
Ah, that’s why you come in here like some dowager duchess, all high-horsed and purple-prosed.mummytofour wrote: »I find your style of writting very chuckle making..
That’s good to hear, you have at least one fan here. I hope you’re a humoristic writer, otherwise it’s a very backhanded compliment indeed.
We still don’t know, why your credit rating is in shreds, have you requested your records? What banks have you applied to and what reason were you given when they turned you down? Why can you not get a basic bank account (more or less everyone else can).
Maybe you really are troll. You’re not interested in information, you need an audience to show off your magnificent Sarah Bernhardt impersonation(including the wooden leg.)0 -
What a lovely forum this is. Ask a perfectly legitimate question - face ludicrous accusations of trolling - write with a little style - get hammered for it. You don't need to know why my credit rating's bad to answer the question, do you? Or if you do, hasn't it occurred to you to tell me why?
For your information, I live in a small town that has HSBC, NatWest and Barclays - and a Post Office. Above and beyond that, some cafes, pubs, a hardware shop, and a bus stop - none of which are regulated by the FSA. Tell me how knowing that improves the quality of your advice, please.0 -
Hi
A few years ago i was in the same situation and we only have a post office and a hsbc in my village. I opened a nationwide cash builder account which is just basic with cash card (you can pay money in at the PO and withdraw using any cash machine Free). I have since opened an alliance and leicester account - again you can use the Post office to withdraw and pay in and they have since upgraded my account to a visa delta account with cheque book. Try either of these two which you can do online.
Hope this helps - if i can help anymore let me know.:beer:0 -
Thank you - I will. I approached the Post Office about a year ago, and all the cashier could offer was a list of banks they were agents for. She recommended the Halifax, and I phoned them. The gentleman from the Halifax was polite, but politely declined. I went to the HSBC and broached the subject of opening an account, but the cashier there insisted I provide bank statements from my previous bank. Apart from the chill in the atmosphere (most unfriendly) I declined to give away information I regard as highly personal just because it's "HSBC policy". It isn't my policy, after all, I'd prefer not to burn any more bridges in such a small community.0

With the Co-op Basic Account you would get a debit card.
You can draw money out from any post office or hole-in-the-wall.
Hope all goes well for you0 -
I have had problems with HSBC in the past. They are not interested in the basic account as they make no commission from it. depending on the type of problems you have had A&L and Nationwide are good. Both are building societys and both report your good account management to the credit agencies and so should help repair your rating. I had CCJs and Defaults when i opened mine.:beer:0
