Best way to sell a M1 Imac Mint condition?

Options
Hi All,

After spending £1200 on a 24 inch iMac I am slightly annoyed with myself having to sell it 2 years later because of an upcoming move. I seem to find a real lack of info online as far as where the best place to sell it would be - so far tried putting it on Facebook Marketplace and very little interest except people offering crazy low prices. Will try eBay though not exactly sure how to send it (I have the original iMac box but not the outer brown box if that makes sense).

Wondering if there are any good trade in places online or in person that would take it more easily that give the best value or something I am missing?

Thanks in advance!

Try Cex, you won't get top price but it's cash in hand without aggro
  • M1 Imacs have recently sold at Costco for very low prices, they're currently £899 but I'm sure I've seen them for much lower in the last few months (Maybe £729, £799? I can't remember exactly).
I would get values from CEX and Apple, then expect to sell for slightly more on a private sale.
Be prepared to accept a significant loss....

I track prices quite heavily and mine is the mid tier model with the 8 core GPU etc and that's on at Costco currently for £999. Now obviously I don't expect to get close to that but I guess I am used to traditionally Apple products holding their value when it comes to resale considering their reliability.

I think eBay seems the best option - I just didn't want to go through the headache of getting an outer brown box (I have the original imac box but I also need a shipping box) and then having to ship it etc but I think I will have to if I don't want to lose significantly. On eBay they are generally selling £600-800 - closer to the £800 for the ones that are in absolute mint condition as mine is.

Also MusicMagpie seems to be offering £615 but not sure I trust them!
  • You could try selling it collection only on eBay. I see quite a few of the larger Apple computers listed this way, but I fear you're not going to get as much as you'd like for it in any event. There are few things that depreciate as quickly as computers, which is something I've learned from only ever buying second hand ones myself.

Don’t forget with eBay you need to factor in fees and postage as well .

Yes have put it on collection only on eBay but having very little interest at the moment it seems. I guess I am used to Apple products generally not depreciating that much - especially if they are in mint condition and not used much. Yes I buy second hand for certain products too but then I am picky as some people don't take care of their devices whereas I am probably over obsessive about taking care of devices ha!
