EDF Heat Pump tariff

I recently signed up to EDF 1 year fixed tariff, August 25, that was 26.36 day, 10.52 night and 64.57 standing. I have an all electric bungalow with air to air HSP and plenty of other energy saving technologies. EDF offered a 10p a kw cheaper tariff for heat pumps and enquired, but the first response was 'thanks for signing up'! I had no idea what the rates were, or what they would be with Economy 7, which again, I have. I emailed EDF immediately and pointed out it was simply an enquiry, but today, I'm told 'I've been accepted' and my new tariff starts immediately! The new rate is 22.09, 12.09 and 67.18, so can't see the 10p discount! It is also a tracker, so doubtless going up 1 October!!
Absolutely livid and will be on the phone to them first thing tomorrow, but just wondered if others have been 'suckered' by EDF's new 'selected' plan. Will probably take this to OFGEM, as this seems as 'sharp' as it comes. Clearly EDF didn't want to honour their fixed tariff and to add insult to injury, charged £25 exit fee for the fixed tariff I signed up for just weeks before their 'special' plan!

Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
An air to air heatpump will be used like any other conventional heater and use energy whilst its in use, usually during the peak tariff times.
The only real benefit that you'll get from a two tier tariff is that you can use the immersion heater and other high energy stuff (washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer etc) during the off peak period.
AS FB suggest you need to look at your heating and use times to see how the new tariff compares - you could also optimise your heating, cooking and other stuff to take advantage of the off peak timings.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I have twice walked away from EDF due to bad customer service, errors, and more. The second time my account was passed to EDF in March 2021 after my supplier folded.I planned to walk away again once I had a full past year's energy consumption information = impossible with EDF which only updates every 6 months.from a date that it chooses. In the meantime EDF sent me a marketing email offering a 2 yr fix at rates higher than special rates that I was given for the first six months but I signed up due to rumblings in the media about likely energy price hikes. My fixed contract started on 1 July after a two week 'cooling off period' but my accounting timetable was not changed. Two years on EDF said my contract ran to the end of August! I suspect they will do the same with you.I hope my experience will help you check your fixed contract carefully, including early exit fees. In the meantime, I have just fixed with Octopus because the energy market is very vulnerable to the conflicts in the main supply regions for Western Europe and the conflicts have escalated,I hope this is helpful.0

The 10p discount is in the lower rate - it's exactly 10p lower than the rest-of-the-time rate.
For anyone curious about the tariff have a look at this page, and you can select your region to find what rates would be for you https://www.edfenergy.com/heating/electric/air-source-heat-pump-tariff/trial0
