What do you miss from your childhood?

Despite 4 minute warnings, and nuclear dread hanging over us, we were a generation that really believed we could do anything.
I'd like to be that confident and knowledgeable again!
We were also immortal or thought we were- given the risks we took and survived. I was telling one of my children recently about experimenting with making petrol bombs. She didn't quite know whether to believe me or not.
Okay there was a falseness to all of that, far too many of my peers didn't survive the risks, especially from driving too fast, and we didn't know nearly as much as we thought we did, but it all felt good at the time.....3 -
Tinned Sweetheart dessert.
Was stocked in the shop on a caravan site in Wales - just whisked content of can with milk.

No social media with all its negativity.
Being able to walk the streets aged 7 ish, on own and go on bus toprimary school (1950s, middle class area). My grandmother's cheese and water biscuits Saturday snack with crudities (a stay up treat).
A very small dry sherry at aged 7 -10 when neighbour got invited in for pre Sunday lunch drinks - so grown up! (can't remember if he stayed for lunch or not).
The roaring open fire in the lounge.
What can't get any more:
Some of the above.
I don't miss much - I am happy with change but I use change to suit me. So I won't use social media unless I have a proven need. Then delete.
Not sweets.
Maybe the family Sunday lunch I had when a child. But I didn't do that with my children, so maybe not enough.
Awful wine.
However I suspect it is no more dangerous nowadays for kids to be out and about on their own, that it was then. Everybody is just more risk aware nowadays.
. Then many were not wearing seatbelts, drink driving, smoking heavily etc
The Moors Murderers were kidnapping children around the area I lived, so we should not look back with too much rose tinted spectacles.5 -
Miss ? Television, well decent television. Saturday nights whole family round the 24" in the corner, Morecambe and Wise, Generation Game, Two Ronnies, Benny Hill. Not to mention Saturday morning Swap Shop and the Banana Splits, Sing along !! One banana, two banana, three banana, four....................
Now the only time I turn it on is for Cricket, Racing and the odd football match, if it wasn't for the wife, i wouldn't have a TV3 -

2p bus fares anywhere in GM.
Spotting new registration cars on our August holiday to visit grandparents in the North East, sharing a bedroom with 2 brothers & giggling all night.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

There are lots of things I miss from my childhood, but just to choose a couple:-
Being able to play out and not worry about anyone lurking about. My daughters are older now, but they never played out unless in the back garden, or at a friends house, where I knew they were safe.Christmas is the other. It used to be such a magical time and now has turned into a big commercial competition and starts earlier every year that passes.Christmas dinner no longer interests me and now I look forward to the whole thing being over with.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £31,287.657
