Need More Data on O2 Without Breaking the Bank – Any Tips?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently on a SIM-only plan with 15 GB of data per month, paying £8. My contract runs until June 2025, but I’m finding 15 GB isn’t quite enough for me anymore. I checked with O2, and they’re offering a data increase, but the cost jumps to £30 a month, which I’d rather avoid!

Has anyone managed to get more data from O2 without paying that much? I’m open to extending my contract and paying a bit more, just not as high as £30. Any tips or advice on how to approach this with O2?

Why do you need so much data?  If it's for tethering, maybe you could get a SIM on a different network just for the tethering.  Might be less than £15

Ive found it seems to be much much cheaper starting afresh with a new contract via a third party rather than paying o2 prices for a contract renewal.

Think one on Buymobiles was half the price that o2 was offering for the exact same thing.  This was for a handset package though, so may not apply here.

Try Uswitch, pick a package and it'll transfer you to O2's site. Say you are an existing customer and it will process as an upgrade so same sim etc

If you also have a Virgin Broadband package you can link it to your O2 account with their "Volt" benefit which will double both your mobile data allowance and also your broadband speed.
