Conveyancing Solicitor is not on the Nationwide panel of approved solicitors.

Hoping for some advice.
Currently first time buyers and have been working with our solicitors for almost 6 months now. We initially had a flat purchase that fell through, for which we had a formal mortgage offer with Nationwide with no mention of a panel of approved solicitors.
We then found another property and when re-applying for our mortgage (different purchase prices), we were sent another formal offer, but with the incorrect solicitors details included. I asked for these to be changed at which point it was mentioned by our Mortgage Advisors' if our solicitor is on the panel. Initially confused by this, we asked and it turned out he wasn't.
It's now been two weeks since our solicitor applied for registration to the panel and he has gone quite cold on us in terms of responses and keeping us updated with the purchase as a whole. Does anyone know how long the application process usually takes?
Should we be considering a change of solicitor or are we over thinking it? We're at the enquiry stage so don't want to jeopardise the sale but are concerned the longer the uncertainty goes on.
For context we are using a helping hand mortgage product so are quite limited in terms of lenders.
Any advice is appreciated.

If they haven't done much work on the new place I would probably just move to a solicitor who is on their panel.0 -
Find a solicitor on the Nationwide's panel. If they are not approved any work they perform will be a waste of time. Probably explains the silence.0

Ask your solicitor if he/she has agency terms with a firm on the Nationwide panel.I am a mortgage broker. If the solicitor knew from the start you were using N/W, make a formal complaint as they should have informed you and advised accordingly.
