If you pay in £250 per month then at 7% interest you'd have £3116 by the end of month 12.
if you pay in £3000 into a 4% savings account then you'd have £3120 by the end of month 12.

To save your blushes though Mark I've had managers of Nottingham BS and Virgin Bank both not understanding such a basic error

I.e. that the missing £2750 (month one) is also being saved in accounts well in excess 6% other RS accounts.

But you wouldn't have £3k in the HSBC account at the beginning. Combine the two and you'll have more than either

Really wanted the HSBC RS so applied for their standard bank account on Monday…..already have a credit card with them. Said at the end of the application that it could take 10 days. Not received an email, no hard search showing on my credit file, no email or communication…..all seems a bit odd.

Patience. HSBC's known to be slow and for not being very loquacious.
  • Don't know if it's still the case but HSBC were also prone to reject people from the Advance account due to income.

Applied for the standard account and either way income not an issue and have a perfect credit rating.

Had the same experience as you, although a hard search is showing up.
I didn't ask for, but accepted the 1k overdraft they offered.
