How about asking her to contribute some of the gluten-free products as her wedding present to you? Then labeling them as such so those who are gluten-free can take advantage of it as sometimes gluten-free products aren't the best (or tastiest) for other people.6

HB .. if my (probably autistic) 8 year old can cope being gluten free and dairy free I think a grown adult can! From a wheat/dairy/egg/chicken allergic adult with an eating disorder.. it's not that hard! I have a diabetic to deal with too.. if she wants to swap I am MORE than happy to do that! .. granted GF bread is nasty but most other stuff is ok.. Twinkle just started eating the GF bread 18 months after tasting her last cheap loaf! I do NOT understand why anyone would choose to be GF as a lifestyle choice.. it's not fun, it's not hard, but it's not fun either.
Dw reloaded.. beds getting stripped tomorrow.. along with Dot who is delighted she is being prodded into the bath!

Morning all.
Completed wordle in six, too many variations, and completed connections with one life lost.
No flying here today as we're going to DDs birthday party, and tomorrow all three DGDs are here so I don't expect to get a lot done then either.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.5 -
weenancyinAmerica said:I've always said the more expensive the wedding, the shorter it lasts.I feel so sorry for people whose marriages end because it must be the ultimate in disappointment for everyone, with really hideous legal complications especially where children are involved, so my heart goes out to those that have to go through that. And I do wonder if a massive expensive bash sometimes takes the focus away from the relationship itself and turns it into an event. Weddings themselves have become a real moneysprinner for so many businesses that they're now a bit out of hand, which is what the Woman's Hour programme was about really. My problem with it was the 'experts' who were giving their opinions were all from the business side of things! So we're DIYing it and it seems that actually, people want to help, they want to contribute on the practical side of things so I can ask a house guest to go to the local excellent chippie on Friday night to collect the pre-order, and the bakery to pick up croissants on Saturday and sourdough loaves on Sunday and do some driving and so on. And to help with the sandwich making and refill teapots etc. What we're looking for here is a joyful celebration that doesn't become 'A Thing'. Belovéd particularly does not want this to be A Thing. He's in charge of champagne - Lidl's finest. We had to do a lot of taste testing to find the right affordable (cheap) one and that involved friends too, who didn't know what it was for but entered into it with spirited gusto. So really we've had a lot of fun organising this, and I've tried as much as possible to springclean the bits of the house that show, so to speak, without exhuasting myself. My office, the Room of Doom, is ,,, but the rest of the house is looking almost passable. It doesn't help that the dog tackles her three daily Kongs by bouncing them down the stairs which means the walls and some carpet are peppered with splatters of dog food but we'll cope.Pigpen, I believe this woman who says she was diagnosed with coeliac disease a couple of years ago rather later in life, but my goodness she can bore for England on the subject. She will be bringing some scones, and because we've got other dietary requests I can make them each a special section and that gives everyone the option to try different things if they'd like to. I agree gluten-free bread is vile, I suspect her scones will be too, and vegan brownies are an abomination but I happen to really like the vegan who has been of that ilk since she was 18 and is our dogwalker - the dogs all adore her and she never lectures anyone on her choices. She was a late addition to the guest list and is worth the effort.I ran out of milk powder yesterday so I had to stop baking bread. I need a couple of white loaves and then I think we may have enough. Still need to brighten up the silver and brass, still need to finish making up the letting rooms and collating all my notes into listies and timeplans. I mustn't forget to get boxes of tissues and more cold remedies as Belovéd is nursing a cold and I rather suspect he has very generously given it to me.
Better is good enough.7 -
Morning all
Congratulations HB. Sounds lovely xx
Last night DS and his DF 'popped' to see how I was following my Tuesday trauma. Had a lovely chat about all sorts. Then watched the Strictly opener after they left.
I'm up - still not sleeping properly, made my bed, completed Wordle in 3, completed Connections in one minute without losing any lives - sadistic setter must be having a day off, supped two brews and eaten toast.
I'll get dressed and be back with a plan.

OK. So I'm dressed, fed the birds, filled the birdbath and the hedgehog's dish, and the pots are soaking.
WUDUPA next.
One step at a time today.

HB .. there are people who do the same with diabetes and thyroid issues too.. drives me mad.. I don't want to discuss my daughters dietary needs I just want to be able to take her out and have some GF childrens choices (usually pasta, fish fingers, chicken nuggets, sausages and burgers in bread).. we just get told 'buy an adult meal' but she won't eat the adult meals they are too spicy or too cheesy or too lump of meaty (she is a bit low in the molar dept for chewing lol) or too something else.
Pack up sarnies done for tomorrow.. cildren ordered up for baths and told to find uniforms and make sure homework is done.. cue 2 lots of howling from Dot.. a bath AND homework.. her life may as well just be over at that point.
Kitchen S&S'd and vacuumedDW emptied and refilled1 item listed on Vinted.
Dots birthday stuff to be wrapped for tomorrowBedding to switch when OH gets home.

Back from holiday late last night / early this morning. I waved at HB as we drove off the ferry and made our way through the city - if I had known that there was such news, I would have waved harder. Massive congratulations to you both, and your choice of celebration is definitley the way to go. I wanted to just elope but DH bizarrely wanted his family there…
Congratulations to GI as well. Beautiful name, reminds me of Ballet Shoes, if I’m not mistaken?
Lovely week away, DD came with us and flew back early, which was fine. I read books, knitted, ate and quaffed the wine. I even bought a couple of small bits for the C-day. I wasn't happy standing on deck watching the French side disappear, but a holiday is just that, so I keep telling myself. The work dread already looms, but there is a plan in progress there too…🤫
Wm has run x3, car has been unpacked, shopping bits have been housed. I have a loaf of bread proving, and need to get to the allotment this afternoon to see what has occurred. Then it’s meal plan. Any flying will have to wait until my day off, although all this talk of coffee and walnut cake is setting me off down a road that I really shouldn’t go down, especially after Round’s generosity in flinging her amazing weight loss in my direction 😘.5 -
