Unruly passenger delay

I wondered if anyone can help ... our family recently had a circa 4hr delay into Bordeaux.
The pilot informed us that there was an unruly passenger on an easyjet flight...so easyjet had taken the decision to use our plane (where there was no delay) to cover the journey of the flight after the disrupted flight, because there was no curfew at Bordeaux airport.
I appreciate unruly behaviour on the journey or proceeding journey means delay compensation is not payable ... but if easyjet swapped the planes due to their commercial interests- then surely this should be covered?
Unsurprisingly they've quoted the disruption and therefore compensation not being eligible...but has anyone got any experience or know if the legislation better than I do? I notice easyjet are not covered by the CAA is there an independent body who can assess this?
Thanks
Al

Curfews at airports are also out of the airlines control, so you are in a hiding to nothing.0

So there was an issue on another flight and they used your plane delaying you?
I would apply for compensation anyway, if they reject it again follow these steps aiming for court in the end:

Similar thing happened to me with Emirates and I was paid out within 3 weeks with no argument from them. I just filled out the form.
