Have I been mis-sold on my car warranty?
Hi
I have purchased a car back in April 2024 and recently realized that I was potentially mis-sold the warranty on the car I have bought outright.
The advert of the car stated the following:
"+++ APRIL SPECIAL OFFER - 18 MONTHS NATIONWIDE GOLD WARRANTY INCLUDED IN THE PRICE +++, *** EVERY VEHICLE IS SOLD WITH A NATIONWIDE 6 MONTH GOLD WARRANTY, UPGRADE YOUR WARRANTY. 1 YEAR GOLD WARRANTY - £299 OR 2 YEARS GOLD WARRANTY - £399"
Before buying the car I rang up the dealer, asked if the price could come down or if there was anything they could to decrease the price, I was told no and that there's a lot people seeing the car - basically sales tactics.
I then went to the dealership, asked again what could be done to make the price lower, they said nothing and was never given the option to say no I do not need any warranty with my car.
I have now reached out to the dealer to try and clarify and understand if they mis-sold me and from my understanding because the adverts states "18 MONTHS NATIONWIDE GOLD WARRANTY INCLUDED IN THE PRICE" - and they just keep referring to the advert and from my understanding they haven't mis-sold.
Any help on this please

To add on this - The 18 month warranty on the special offer is a combination 6 months originally provided from them and then a warranty fee of £399 for and extra 12 months = 18 months special deal.0

Was given a leaflet, explaining what the warranty covers and was sent an email with the same information along with car that has been registered.
Handler Protect is the name of the warranty company - the dealership is DR Motors based in leicester0 -
What did you pay ? Price of the car ? or Price plus EXTRA WARRANTY ?0

Before you accuse the dealer of mis-selling, call the warranty company and ask if they have you on their records.
But even if everything is above board and you're covered, the consensus seems to be that the warranty is worthless.1 -
I, to, paid £250 for a 6 months warranty with Handler protect. Let's hope nothing happens in the next 6 months!

I'm confused. You bought a car, they gave you the standard 6 month warranty and an extra 18 months free, as you just paid the price of the car? Irrespective of whether the warranty is any good, how were you mis-sold something you didn't pay for? Realistically, they could have just priced the car up at £400 more than it's worth and thrown the extra warranty in for free, but it's up to them what price they sell their cars for.
I have a manufacturers warranty, and it's fine, wouldn't go third party.0 -

That advert contradicts itself.
You get a 18 month GOLD warranty "Included in price"
Yet they then say "Every vehicle is sold with 6 month gold warranty"
Then they then say "Upgrade" your warranty 1 year £299, 2 year £399.
No mention of being a EXTRA 1 or 2 years....
So just exactly was included in the price????
Putting aside the warranty is not worth the paper it is written on 🤷♀️Life in the slow lane0 -

The way I read it, it's an April-only special offer that you get 18 months free. Normally, it's 6 months and you pay if you want an extra year.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
