It's clear what the ultimate librarian post is. It's for someone with auburn bodyhair who can hang off shelves by their toes and say Oook a lot. It helps if you can navigate L-space and soothe frightened books.0

Enough !

I need to learn to take a chance with money. You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0 -

I worked in a library for 3 days back in 1980 - I was paid £27.50 on the YTS, they complained my blue trousers were too bright, the best day was cleaning the book covers with meths in an enclosed back room and by the third day I told them to 'shove it' - got off my !!!!! and got myself a decent job.
- went to uni at 25 despite being a single mum and having to work almost full time over and above my uni course to pay the bills and keep our heads above water
- got off my !!!!! after my degree course and got myself a job with good career prospects
- got off my !!!!! in that job to get two good promotions within 9 years and now earn a pretty good wage
Moral of this story - nobody is going to GIVE you what you want - get off your !!!!! and do it for yourself.
Rant over - but can't be doing with people thinking the world owes them a living or that being a student or 'paying for yet another course' will solve their problems. It's not qualifications he's short of but get up and go! Studentphil says it all - this guy wants to be a perpetual student and live comfortably with his mum and dad - ooh, clearly the rant wasn't over.....it is now!0 -
