constant broadband dropout in evenings??

You could be right but until internal wiring is checked out to be in good order and not the root of the problem, it may never get resolved. Easy to do and saves a lot of time, effort and frustration all round.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0

Do you mean when you use your phone it ALSO drops the connection?
Sounds like a wiring/filter probelm. I think people get confused with thier filters.
Let me know your wiring and filters and devices layout eg mine is:
Master BT Socket
.Double Socket:
..Socket 1:
...Filter 1
....ADSL: > Nothing
....TEL > Telephone
..Socket 2:
...Extension Lead
....Filter 2
.....ADSL > ROUTER
.....TEL > Sky Box
Also extension leads tend to get damaged over time unless BT installed them.
cheers, have fitted 2nd filter to telephone, too early to tell if if its fixed my evening drop out probsPlease note, we've had to remove your signature because it was sh*te!0 -
Dropout when phone is picked up or hung up suggests filters faulty or incorrectly set up if BT say line ok.

Loss of connection in the evening suggests low SNR margin http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/lowSNR.htm
Read through that stuff and get a hold of the Dr SpeedTouch tool so we can see your line stats as per the article Speedtouch 330 aka "The Frog" http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.htm
stats are;- receive attenuation - 58db
receive margin - 6db
send attenuation - 31db
send margin - 25db
hope this is the info you req'dPlease note, we've had to remove your signature because it was sh*te!0 -

I keep getting wazzed off msn at night, and I'm on Tiscali:mad:  "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Your receive attenuation - 58db shows you are on the end of a fairly long line, receive margin - 6db is in the problem area for a fixed rate product, below 10db is where the problems start.
If you haven't tried the test socket already use that and see if margin figure improves.
If all checks out ok with wiring etc. then it may be external forces which are causing the problem - xmas tree lights, temporary traffic lights, wet weather, cordless phones, plasma tvs, all sorts.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0 -
as of this moment, the last 3 evenings have been fine, i hope this keeps up.
now to try and get a better bb deal/provider
