on my credit card.
I've just got my first statement and it has a purchase of £80 on and no interest for this month and there will be none for next month and on the summary of charges it has introductory rate 0.00% pa for Balance Transfers and Purchases and these end on 12/05/08 (BT) and 12/02/09 (PUR) but then underneath it has Interest Free Period-up to 59 days for Purchases Only. So which one is it-the one until 2009 or just 59 days. I'm sure it's been more than 59 days since I received the card and I made the purchase on 6th Dec.

This is the Halifax 'Purchase' card (15 months)...yes?
The 59 days refers to the card's standard T&C's, ie those that apply after any 0% on purchases introductory period has expired.0 -

To confirm what YB has said: '59 days' refers to the use of the card after the promotional period covering purchases end (i.e. from 12 Feb 2009 only)
Frankly, the thing you need to be sure of, most urgently, is that you have made arrangements for the first minimum payment to be collected (preferably by direct debit). If this gets missed then you lose the whole deal.....[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]3.2 We may apply the standard interest rate during any special promotion period to any transaction if in any month you do not make at least your minimum payment by the payment date or if you exceed your credit limit at any time.[/FONT]
"Direct Debit will be [for the minimum payment]...
Direct Debit Payment Date 08/01/08 [going by your end dates]"
If it's not there you will have to make manual payment pretty soon - probably by tomorrow at the latest......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -

Surely it would be eaiest just to ring your card provider to clarify??0 -
What's to clarify ? Two posters have already given the answer !
You're getting confused with the Special Promotion 0% period and the standard interest free period of 59 days when a Special promotion period is NOT in effect. They are not the same thing.
A very quick look on the Halifax One Credit card page here clearly gives the answers.

How does the 59 days thing work? does that mean you have 2 months from date of purchase to pay it off in full before they charge interest. I've never had a credit before and am trying to be sensible and maybe even start stoozing-simply spend.Halifax-Limit-£500-Balance-£0
