Extraordinary how the vast majority of people still believe that "advertising has no effect on me".
If this were the case then why is the annual advertising spend in the UK £35 billion? Do you think that advertisers would spend this money if they didn't know that it had the desired effect?1 -
I guess that the only option is social suicide then. Sigh!0

And another thing...
Why do other people feel the need to 'Like' everything that they see?
I post something to pass on information to my small group, or to ask for information and several feel the compulsion to 'Like' it!
What is there to like? What benefit do I get from that?
On one occasion, I vaguely recall challenging someone by asking them why they liked it. No reply.
I'm considering posting something like "I cut my finger and it hurts", just to see if anyone 'Likes' it.
Rant over, going back to my grumpy mam's cave now.1 -
More likes you get on a post the more likely it will be seen by everybody else (so far as big public names/groups are concerned) and it's all about eyeballs. If you post privately to your small group that you cut your finger, you'll just get some sympathy and a few "cuddles", but it won't go any further than that.0

After finding yet another load of postings on all sorts of subjects, including a Premier Football Club (can't stand football) and some young person wearing not a lot that wanted me to 'follow' her, I finally decided that enough was enough!
I have now temporarily suspended my account (so that I can still use messenger) and deleted the app from my phone so that I don't get tempted to go back.
I am now getting concerned for my Wife, who seems to live on Facebook. She sits with the tv on, but looks non-stop at her phone, sits at the dinner table with it propped up in front of her, even has to take it to the bathroom. It's all scrolling over other peoples postings and playing back these trashy video clips that others post. I have tried to say that I think she's addicted, its getting worse.0 -

Oh quite. They do know what they are doing ...but it is not everybody (100%) that reacts positively. If so nobody would buy the things/brand that does not advertise to the masses.
