Hope someone may be able to offer advice about my problem. I have a gas smart meter that doesn't work, so have to do manual readings every month. All has been ok until today , my meter is saying I have 185 units in a month. Last month I used 4, have ruled out a gas leak.
Can a gas boiler be faulty without being on, only use combi for washing up in the summer so there is an issue somewhere .
Any ideas or has this happened to someone else.

One or two boilers even come with an integral storage tank (such as the Viessmann 111).Switching the boiler to eco mode usually disables the regular firing at the expense of a slight delay in getting hot water out of a tap - Check the user manual to find out how to set the mode. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
I have now been told there is definitely no gas leak , and my boiler has been tested and no problem there.I have reported back to Octopus, will now see what happens next.Anyone any tips on how to deal with Octopus, it's obviously a faulty smart meter.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.0

You've tested that the meter doesn't count up when there's no gas use. That rules out one way that the meter could be faulty (and that's the way we often find out).
What you mean is "it might be a faulty smart meter because I can't remember doing anything that might have used more gas".
You can get the meter tested, but if it's not faulty then you'll have to pay for the test.2
